Overview

The Advisor Dashboard is the command center for Financial Advisors—a one-stop hub where they can track every client, manage accounts, and stay on top of their to-dos with ease.

Why did we do a redesign for the Advisor Dashboard?

Why did we do a redesign for the Advisor Dashboard?

Before, the Advisor Dashboard felt more like a blind spot—it lacked a clear view of an advisor’s performance and missed out on the latest client activities.

User Research

Led the primary research by speaking to our in - house financial advisor to understand what his day looks like and what his pain points are.

This research also helped us (product manager and myself) to understand the opportunities we could have to improve the product.

Scattered tasks and updates

There was no centralized list to track pending actions, making it harder to stay organized.

Lack of emphasis on critical tasks

Time-sensitive and compliance-related activities often got lost in the shuffle, increasing the risk of missed deadlines.

No clear view of top and bottom clients

Initial Concept

The original vision for the design was to craft a powerful, all-in-one dashboard for Advisors—one that provides a complete snapshot of their clients, total Assets Under Management (AUM), upcoming tasks, and the latest account updates, all in one place.

The issue with this layout?

It was a memory hog. The backend struggled with excessive data consumption, making graph loading a slow and frustrating experience.

So, we scrapped that design in favor of something smarter—an intuitive dashboard where advisors see their daily tasks front and center, with the flexibility to dive into client details only when needed.

Trying AI for ideas

Instead of just going in and designing on Figma, I tried exploring my ideas on Claude. I tried numerous ideas and it would create instant prototypes.

Here is one of the prototypes Claude created.

Iteration 1

In this iteration, my focus was on making the Advisor Dashboard more intuitive and user-friendly. Now, advisors can instantly spot their daily tasks and high-priority action items—no more digging around for what needs attention.

We streamlined the dashboard with features for tracking client meetings, monitoring growth stats, and prioritizing tasks into high-impact and routine categories.

Review of This Layout:

The page lacked a clear visual hierarchy, making it overwhelming for advisors due to the sheer number of elements crammed into one screen.

Iteration 2

In this iteration, my priority was reducing cognitive load. To achieve this, I split the page into three tabs and introduced a landing view where advisors can choose to focus on meetings, tasks, or growth opportunities individually.

Building on Iteration 2

The team loved the idea of a starting screen, so I refined it further while enhancing the visual design.

Results

  1. The redesigned Advisor Dashboard transformed from a disorganized interface into a streamlined, user-centric command center.

  2. Advisors could now easily track their performance, stay updated on client activities, and manage tasks efficiently.

  3. The modular design reduced cognitive load, and the clear visual hierarchy ensured that critical tasks were not overlooked.

Overall, the new dashboard significantly improved the daily workflow of financial advisors.
